Founded in 1874, Modale is a friendly farm community located in Harrison, Co, IA, Missouri River Valley north of Omaha.
We are a welcoming, family friendly farm community situated in the beautiful farm country spanning the mighty Missouri River and Loess Hills and three nearby national wetlands.
Life in Modale
Of note historically, Modale is the birthplace of Myra Keaton, the popular vaudeville performer and mother of silent film actor, director, and Honorary Academy Award-winner Buster Keaton.
We have a history supporting the arts and continue to this day with our Grand Lodge Arts Center.
The historical building originated as The Modale School and Masonic Hall built in 1880 to serve a a school building for Modale. A modern brick building replaced the original in 1911.
There are three wetland areas (Horseshoe Lake, Vaile Wetland, Noland Wetland) just a few miles away and Modale is a great place for wildlife lovers and conservationists alike.
Our sunsets are amazing and we spend a lot of time outside enjoying the great outdoors. Join us some time!
